IBC TOTE MIXER

Built Tough

Designed and built tough in the USA. We designed our tote mixing systems and make them in Cleveland. With the help of a NASA engineer, we have been able to perfect our systems to make them the best they can be. We pride ourselves in the durability and power of our tote mixers.

Low Weight

Our high-quality engineering has our air powered mixer at 9 pounds and our electric powered mixer at 12 pounds. Most IBC Tote Mixers on the market weigh between 25 and 100 pounds. Make it easier on your employees and avoid safety issues!

3D Mixing

We asked paint, chemical, agriculture, food, and industrial companies for issues with mixing in totes. They had a lot! Our Engineers solved the problems and designed the EvenMix® Blade. It was good enough to be patented. It mixes in 3D, unlike anything else.

Tote Mixer Design

The EvenMix® IBC Tote Mixer is powerful, low weight, and easy to handle. We designed the mixing system tough enough to handle your most challenging mixing situations but lightweight enough for one person to complete the job.

The EvenMix® IBC Tote Mixer system is built tough, effective, and reliable. Its award winning design is the most effective in its class.

EvenMix® IBC Tote Mixers are made from hardened steel and engineered to withstand 800 inch pounds of force. The In-Plant IBC Mixer is coated with Powder Coat Epoxy– the same coating used in the toughest applications. The After-Market IBC Tote Mixer is made from non-reactive 316 Stainless Steel.

With an even mix of your resins or materials throughout an IBC, you can reduce your raw material inputs and save money.

EvenMix® IBC Tote Mixer is designed to provide an even distribution of materials throughout an IBC. The Mixed Flow Blades are unique in their design and shape. They fold to allow insertion through the 6″ opening while unfolding to mix the contents throughout the IBC evenly.

Our IBC Mixer features our bottom larger blade (16 inches unfolded) and it does a great job, especially given that it is entering through 6 inch bung opening. Our fixed blade mixers like our 55 gallon drum mixer are available with one mixing blade or two. When the second mixing blade is added to the middle of the shaft it actually is inverted when compared to the bottom blade. The bottom blade pumps up while the top blade pumps down. Through testing we determined that in a 55 gallon barrel the bottom blade pumps up around the outer diameter of the drum cylinder while the inner diameter feeds liquid down to feed the bottom pump. The top blade facilitates that complete pumping action.

It might just look like another variable pitch blade, but it’s specifically designed with a purpose. Everything we do has a purpose at EvenMix®™.

EvenMix® IBC Tote Mixers

Yes, It IS Rocket Science!

"The EvenMix® w/ air motor easily accomplishes our mixing needs and it works great on a wide range of products from defoamer to polymers. This mixer weighs 9 lbs compared to the 55 lbs for a standard tote mixer, easily everyone's favorite attribute."

FAQ

What is the best mixer for an IBC tote?

The best IBC tote mixer creates circulation throughout the entire container, not just near the surface. EvenMix® uses patented variable-pitch blades that deploy to 16″ diameter and 4″ tall inside the tote.

How do EvenMix® mixers fit inside an IBC tote?

EvenMix® mixers are typically mounted to the IBC cap before the cap is installed on the tote. The folding blades pass through the cap assembly and deploy to 16″ diameter x 4″ tall inside the container.

Can you mix an IBC tote without removing the entire tote lid?

Yes. EvenMix® mixers mount to the tote cap rather than requiring removal of the entire tote lid. In most applications, the mixer is attached to the cap first and then the cap is installed onto the tote.

How does an EvenMix® Tote Mixer attach to an IBC tote?

EvenMix® Tote Mixers attach to the standard IBC cap, which is typically 6″ in diameter and contains a 2″ NPT female opening. The mixer mounts to the cap assembly while the folding blades deploy to 16″ diameter x 4″ tall inside the tote.

What size opening does an EvenMix® Tote Mixer use?

EvenMix® Tote Mixers mount to a standard 6″ IBC cap with a 2″ NPT female opening. This allows the mixer to attach securely to the cap while placing the shaft and folding blades into the tote.

What is the EvenMix® Anti-Contamination Fitting?

The Anti-Contamination Fitting allows the mixer assembly to remain installed in the tote independent of the drive. This helps reduce cross-contamination while allowing one drive to be shared across multiple containers.

Can one drive be used on multiple IBC totes?

Yes. The mixer assembly can remain installed in each tote while a single drive is moved between containers as needed.

Why do materials settle in IBC totes?

Materials separate when heavier ingredients, pigments, or solids naturally settle during storage. Mixing restores product consistency before use.

How do you keep solids suspended in an IBC tote?

Keeping solids suspended requires circulation throughout the container. EvenMix® mixed-flow blades create both vertical and horizontal fluid movement.

What is 3D mixing?

3D mixing combines vertical and horizontal circulation throughout the container. This helps reduce dead zones and improve blend consistency.

Why is blade size important in tote mixing?

Larger blades move more liquid with each revolution and improve circulation throughout the tote. EvenMix® tote blades deploy to 16″ diameter and 4″ tall inside the container.

What makes EvenMix® different from other tote mixers?

EvenMix® uses patented variable-pitch folding blades that deploy to 16″ diameter through a standard IBC cap assembly. Many competing fixed-blade tote mixers use significantly smaller blade diameters.

Can IBC Tote Mixers handle thicker materials?

Yes. A single set of EvenMix® blades is typically sufficient for liquids up to approximately 4,000 cPs, depending on the tote contents and application. For materials above 4,000 cPs or when shorter cycle times are desired, two or more blade sets are often recommended.

Do I need one set of blades or multiple sets of blades for an IBC tote?

A single blade set is commonly used for lower-viscosity liquids and general tote mixing applications up to approximately 4,000 cPs. Multiple blade sets are often selected for higher-viscosity materials, settled products, or applications where faster mixing is required.

What mixer works best for fertilizer in an IBC tote?

Fertilizers often settle during storage and require strong circulation to resuspend solids. Mixed-flow blade designs help restore a uniform mixture before application.

What mixer works best for polymers?

Polymers typically require circulation without excessive air entrainment or shear. Proper fluid movement throughout the tote helps maintain product performance.

What mixer works best for adhesives?

Adhesives require uniform mixing to maintain consistency and product quality. Full-container circulation helps distribute ingredients throughout the tote.

What mixer works best for paint and coatings?

Paints and coatings require circulation that keeps pigments suspended throughout the container. Complete fluid movement helps maintain color and consistency.

Can one person install an IBC tote mixer?

Yes. EvenMix® mixers are designed to be lightweight and are typically installed and removed by a single operator.

How long does it take to mix an IBC tote?

Mixing time depends on viscosity, volume, solids content, and blade configuration. Strong circulation generally improves remixing performance and consistency.

What is the difference between a propeller mixer and a mixed-flow mixer?

Traditional propeller mixers primarily move liquid in one direction. Mixed-flow mixers create both vertical and horizontal circulation throughout the container.
