The EvenMix® Drum Bung Mixer has some of the largest mixing blades for closed head drums on the market. These patented variable pitch folding blades fold to approx. 2” to fit through the side bung entry point on most drum lids (polymer and steel). When the mixer begins to rotate, these innovative blades on an angled shaft unfold to 15” in diameter, ensuring a thorough mix throughout the entire container.

Powered via a high quality air system, electrical outlet, or power-tool battery – our EvenMix® Drives are the most lightweight on the market. With the Drive weighing in between 7-13 pounds, these 1-1.25 HP units work in conjunction with our patented variable pitch folding blade sets to achieve a no shear mix with practically zero air entrapment. All Drive types are incredibly efficient with our Air Drive operating at 90 PSI and consuming 13 CFM. The Digital Drives powered via traditional outlets pull 4 amps max, and the battery-powered Drives can operate for hours on end with a single DeWalt® or Milwaukee® battery. Digital Drives also feature 20 preset speeds, ranging from ~27-100 RPMs and 4 various mixing modes to allow for mixing process customization and remote capabilities. All EvenMix® Drives produce substantial amounts of torque (over 20 newton meters) via 85:1 or 151:1 gearboxes. When combined with our patented blade design, this Drum Bung Mixer can mix most materials between 0 – 2,000 centipoise with a maximum operating viscosity of 4,000 centipoise in a closed-head drum.

This mixer package mounts to the top of a 55-gallon drum via the EvenMix® Closed-Head Drum Bung Clamp Mount. This clamp mount can be adjusted for tension and tightness to the drum to account for drums of slightly different designs. The shaft and blades enter the drum at an angle through the 1 3/4 to 2” hole that is off center on most drum lids. When the mixer rotates counter-clockwise, the blades deploy to their full 15”x2” size and spin about 2/3^rd down inside the drum/barrel.

Patented Mixing Blade

The EvenMix® Patented Variable Pitch Blade design is carried over from our full sized 16×4” blades to our smaller (15”x2”) drum bung blades. These twisted blades go from 90-degrees to 30-degrees in angle. Due to this steep change in angle and various other bends on the blades, the mixing blade will not generate a vortex and will not sheer the material inside the drum. This blade design also generates rotational movement on both a vertical and horizontal axis, ensuring a thorough mix in the entire drum/barrel – testing the same at the top and bottom of the container for most materials between 0 – 2,000 centipoise. Thicker materials (up to 4,000 centipoise) can also be used with our Closed-Head Drum Bung Mixer Package, but may have a longer mixing time. All of the “wet” parts on this mixer package are 300 series stainless steel, with (2) nylon spacers for the folding mechanism. Food grade welded folding blades are also available for an additional cost.

Weight and Modularity

These EvenMix® Drum Bung Mixer Packages weigh between 13 and 18 pounds in total weight (13 pounds for the Air Driven package, and 18 pounds for the Digital packages – 120v and battery-powered). This lightweight design allows for one person installation in minutes and makes them the most mobile drum bung mixers on the market. Modularity within the EvenMix® system gives operators the ability to reuse the same Drive for mixing in various other containers (with the proper EvenMix® Mount and Blade setup) OR the ability to use one Drive for multiple Drum Bung Mixers via our M-B-29-0-15-02-3-1 Package(s) and our “Anti-Contamination” Fitting/Reducer – saving significant costs in the long term and allowing the EvenMix® system to grow with your operation (Ex. as your product volume increases, you can reuse parts of the same mixer package for larger containers or different materials).

3D Mixing Performance

Look at how the EvenMix® moves liquid around the drum as it circulates material and liquid. This drum is filled with liquid glycerin (about the consistency of paint) with some blue stars and sand. You can even see how it picks up sand from the bottom of the drum and moves it around the container.

Installation & Operation

The EvenMix® systems lightweight design combine with 2” blades allows for single user installation. Slightly pinch the blades to fit them through the larger of 2 openings on the drum lid (1 2/3^rd” or 2”) and attach to the Drive then screw the Drive onto the Closed-Head Drum Bung Mount and your mixing in minutes. Once they begin to rotate counter-clockwise, the hydrodynamic forces open the blades to their full size (15”x2”). When done spinning, the blades will relax and fold back down to be removed from the drum/barrel. Gone are the days of heavy, bulky mixing equipment. No more rolling the drum on the floor or a stand. No more inserting a bunch of small mixing blades in through the top lid and needing an entire team to start the mixing process.
